Sunrises and Sunsets in Broken Bow

Broken Bow is one of the most beautiful places to go in the state of Oklahoma. There are so many great experiences to enjoy with your family while visiting the area. But one you might not expect is the beautiful Sunrises and Sunsets. In this blog I want to share with you some of favorite locations to take in these breath taking views. Are you an early riser? Getting up early to see the Broken Bow sunrise is not easy but it is definitely rewarding. My first recommendation is the Beaver Bend State Park north entrance. Here you can view the sunrise at either of the Carson Creek boat launch points. There are two boat launches down Carson Creek Rd one turns left to a campsite overlooking the lake to the east and the other is at the end of Carson Creek Rd also looking east to the lake. You will want plan ahead to get the best possible experience. Start by checking the weather. Check your weather app for the days you will be in town and plan to view your sunrises on days that have clear to partly cloudy forecasts in the morning. Don’t be scared away from a partly cloudy forecast. Sometime the clouds can enhance the color and radiate various color onto the lake and mountain back drop. Plan to bring your favorite cup of coffee and relax as you watch the sun rise over the lake. This can be so peaceful. Don’t forget to set your alarm. You will want to be there 30 minutes before the sunrise. This will allow you to take the quick changing morning color.  Every time you get up early to see the sunrise, is sure to put you in a good mood. But if getting up early is not your thing, then perhaps you can take in a breath taking sunset. My favorite place for sunset is also in Beavers Bend State Park. (South entrance). You will need to take 259 and head east on 259-A. You will see the big Beavers Bend State Park sign. Follow road as it wraps around and puts you on the road that oversees the dam overlooking Broken Bow Lake. On one side you can see the lake and the other is the mountains below and in the distance with the river flowing through them. Either side can render gorgeous views but my favorite is overlooking Broken Bow Lake. The light reflecting of the clear waters of the Lake enhance the colorful show. There is even a great look out point you can visit. You can stay in the car if it is cold day or sit on the bench they have put in place for such an occasion. This is such a great place to see the sunset with family and friends and it always creates great bonding time. The sunsets never fail to remind me how naturally beautiful Broken Bow really is. Next time you are in Hochatown, be sure to make time on your schedule watch a sunrise or sunset and experience the calming, relaxing, and peacefulness of what nature has to offer.
